The bones of JTH Tucson were amazing from day one (and why we bought the property in the first place), but the bathrooms were never really the star of the show. While we didn’t have to make any major layout changes (nor could we afford to), they were in major need of a surface level […]
Before Photos: Saguaro Inn
The past few months have been an amazing whirlwind between releasing our new book ‘At Home in Joshua Tree‘, and closing on our dream property in Tucson, Arizona. If you know us well, you’ve likely heard us talking about our dream of opening up an inn next to a national park one day. Rich obsessively […]
Our Book ‘At Home in Joshua Tree’ Releases October 23
We are so excited to share that our book on design and desert living called ‘At Home in Joshua Tree: A Field Guide to Desert Living’ releases in a little less than two weeks! Though it will look beautiful on your coffee table, we thought it would be fun to share a little more about […]
Moroccan Design Inspiration at Berber Lodge
Back in May, we took an inspiration trip to Morocco. I got a sinus infection during the trip, and then life took over when we got back—so we didn’t really get a chance to look through our photos until now! A home is meant to be lived in, and so natural materials that age well are always our first choice. For this reason, we’re often drawn to designing with vintage rugs. They’re […]
The Assembly (Before & After)
An original 1905 church in the Mission district of San Francisco is now a place to put down your phone or laptop for a while (only if you want to), maybe write (with pen and paper), read (from a physical book), rest (without guilt), and physically push yourself to strength (and tears). It’s a place […]
Holiday Decor as a Natural Extension of Home
We spent Thanksgiving surrounded by our desert family, voicing what we were all grateful for. We often acknowledge that this is perhaps the best time in the history of mankind to be living in the desert.
Resetting for Colder Weather
One of the things we’ve loved most about living in Joshua Tree is a reconnection to the sun, the stars, the moon, and the seasons. We’re infinitely more aware of these cycles, and now as the seasons transition it’s the perfect time to reset.
Hacienda Kitchen Renovations
Usually when friends come over for dinner and drinks (now that our renovations are finished this is a much more regular occurrence), they usually ask us which part of our home is our favorite now that everything’s done. Our answer is our kitchen.
