Summer has become one of our most sentimental seasons in the desert—as the temperatures rise we’re reminded more than ever to slow down and reset. Summer also brings ripening prickly pear fruit, peaceful days by the pool, refreshing summer rains and lightning shows along with the most incredible sunsets and rainbows we’ve ever seen in our lives.
It’s also road-trip season and the perfect time to venture off to new places, so we asked Joe Kaplow (a musician we’ve been listening to non-stop lately) to curate the perfect desert road-trip playlist. And well, he did it y’all—this is a fun one. His song ‘Rock & Roll’ is featured from his album ‘Posh, Poodle, Krystal and Toe’ (nicknames for his bandmates if you’re wondering). His honest and raw songwriting style surfaces sweet old memories through sound imagery while cruising wide open desert landscapes. Enjoy!

About the New Moon Playlist
On the New Moon, the earth, moon, and sun align making us unaware of the moon’s presence in the sky. Without the visual presence and glow of the moon, other celestial bodies typically hidden now shine brighter. Our chances of seeing the sky clearly are heightened on this day, making it a day of clarity and new beginnings. Creatively it’s the perfect time to set intentions for a new cycle of dreams and goals, and ways of manifesting them.
