Introducing the newest experience available for our guests to add-on to an individual room stay and included in a full inn rental at JTH Tucson beginning July 8th: the Bath House!
This private spa-like experience features an aromatic cedar sauna, cold plunge tub, outdoor shower, cozy lounge area, and a refreshing gift of house-made bloom-to-bottle facial mist.
Tucked away in a walled-courtyard garden near our communal canyon swimming-pool, we designed the Bath House to bring ancient wellness traditions to the Sonoran desert landscape we’re situated within.
We’re so excited to offer this relaxing thermocycling session to our guest experiences roster, and hope you’ll get a chance to experience it.
Inspiration
After looking through some old photos of the inn, we discovered that what looked to us like an empty courtyard actually had a secret: it used to hold a hibachi pit in its past life. We originally planned to unearth and restore it (like we did our hot springs style hot-tub!). Though, after trying to dig up the courtyard’s sandy floor to find the hibachi pit, we sadly figured out that this original structure was long gone.
After our plan to dig up the hibachi area fell through, we started to dream up other ways to best utilize this beautiful space. Our hope for JTH Tucson has always been to create a place that is much more than just a place to sleep—it is an experience and a place to truly slow down.
In just a couple of months we will already have been open for 5 years here at JTH Tucson (which is blowing our minds!), and over time we’ve been working through our dream list of projects for our small inn. One dream was to create a spa-like space for our guests to enjoy, but we never quite knew where to put it… until one day we realized that this overgrown spot in the courtyard could turn into the outdoor bathhouse of our dreams.
We decided to install a Plunge cold-plunge tub and cedar-sauna along with an ORCA outdoor shower for a full thermal circuit. There’s a lot of emerging research about the benefits of cold-plunging and thermocycling, and if nothing else, so many people find it to be an invigorating yet restful experience for the mind and body. We recommend cycling from the sauna to the shower to the plunge as many times as you like, then resting on the loungers in our custom JTH x Pair Up spa robes and let it all soak in.
Whether you use this as a way to reset and energize for the day, heal after a strenuous hike, or to simply enjoy a new experience—we hope you feel renewed after a private session in the Bath House.
