After a beautifully rainy winter both in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts, spring has arrived with both a burst of wildflowers and creative energy. Brittle bush, poppies, lupine, globe mallows and fairy dusters dot the side of the road inviting us to revisit our favorite hikes now that the weather has warmed back up.
To celebrate the season we invited Ora Cogan, one of our favorite musicians and previous featured artist, to curate a spring New Moon Playlist for us. She captured the sense of wanderlust and daydreams that spring can often bring to accompany you on your next adventure (whether that be a roadtrip out to one of our locations or background music while you do some spring cleaning at home). Her song ‘Cowgirl’ is hauntingly beautiful—maybe one to listen to while identifying spring wildflowers.
The process of creating music helps Ora in “recalibrating an internal compass constantly thrown off by the magnetism of a deranged world”. It’s the perfect spring soundtrack to recalibrate us all—to slow down, smell the flowers, and enjoy the season.

About the New Moon Playlist
On the New Moon, the earth, moon, and sun align making us unaware of the moon’s presence in the sky. Without the visual presence and glow of the moon, other celestial bodies typically hidden now shine brighter. Our chances of seeing the sky clearly are heightened on this day, making it a day of clarity and new beginnings. Creatively it’s the perfect time to set intentions for a new cycle of dreams and goals, and ways of manifesting them.
